The Introduction of Research findings:
We had published one paper , namely The Research of the Reasons of Europeans Immigrated to Argentina(1853-1914) in <Science&Economy&Society>(2015.3) which is authored by Liu Ming. Besides, we still have one articles which are in the state of under review.
The paper, The Research of the Reasons of Europeans Immigrated to Argentina(1853-1914) analysis the relationship between immigration and agricultural modernization in South American countries. For the author’s part, European immigrants arrived in Argentina is the results of the government's policies, the public opinion supports, Argentina's export economy development and the objective requirement of the industrial revolution. At the same time, ideological and cultural factors as well as the international background also nots allow to ignore. The arrival of European settlers promoted the agricultural modernization process of Argentina, and setting up the Argentina South American superpower status, playing an important role in forming pluralistic society in Argentina nowadays. The paper also have some enlightenings for Chinese agricultural development and modernization. On the one hand, Chinese central government and regional government should implement more support policies to advance the development of agriculture, especially in some impoverished areas. On the other hand, the government should exert its efforts to avoid the labors outflowing to other places and attract large numbers of surplus labors in developed areas to farm in the West and Northeast.
The paper, Policies Researh of Mainland Agricultural Development during Brazilian Military Government(1964-1985), is under review(external audited) which is conducted by Journal of Beijing Forestry University(Social Sciences). The writer is still Liu Ming. The author thinks that Mainland agricultural development is an important part of Brazilian agricultural modernization during military government period, and it is also the important embodiment of high intervention of the government toward national economy. The reasons why military government exploits the mainland not only for mainland farmers thirst for land and the power of the central government unprecedented strengthened, but for the prevalence of in-debt economic development strategy and other economic thoughts. Mainland settlers and rural infrastructure construction was the forerunner of mainland agricultural development. At the same time, the government also supplemented by credit, subsidies and tax breaks and other support policies and the promotion of agricultural science and technology. During this period, the mainland agricultural development contributed to the integration of the Brazilian economy effectively, ended the history situation of coexistence of "two Brazilian"which helps to strengthen the effective control of the central government to the local, laid the Brazilian agricultural country status and Brazil's agricultural pattern today. But meanwhile, because of improper policy or inherent defects lead to serious ecological destruction, which increased the gap between the rich and the poor, it is, to some extent, adverse for Brazil's economic and social sustainable development. The experiences of Brazil tell us that the development of agriculture should be in harmony with social equity and environment protection. We should not sacrifice the protection of environment for the sake of the increase of GDP.
Some thoughts for the research:
As for us, the agricultural modernization of South America is a very essential and complicated issue. It need to analysis the issue from many perspectives, such as policies, the change of rural society and agricultural cooperation between China and South America. Besides, some economical, social and modernizational thesises are necessary. Therefore, It need several researches to complete. In the process of our research, we worked hard and often go to other universities and institutions to consult relative materials. We also interviewed many foreign researchers come from US(such as Jonathan C. Brown of UT-Austin and Peter Smith as well as David Mares of UCSD), Brazil(such as Savedra) and other Latin American countries. We benefit too much form this kind of communication. We also get together to held some conferences and seminars to talk about our programe and implemented the next step. Although we have the occasions of disconcert, we solve the problems with democratic and conscionable ways.
