From July 6th to 13th, the 32nd International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) was held at Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. Led by teachers of Nankai University, Chinese delegation made up of 5 middle school students won the gold medal in the competition. This is the 3rd consecutive year that Chinese delegation organized by Nankai University, Tianjin Physical Society and IYPT China Working Team won the gold medal in this tournament, which is also the 5th gold medal since 2014.
Nankai University’s School of Physics introduced the tournament in 2007, and has been engaging in the selection of IYPT Chinese delegation, training and competition since 2008. After 12 years’ organizing experience, it has gained outstanding achievements. In addition, School of Physics initiated and held China Undergraduate Physics Tournament (CUPT) in 2010, and witnessed the successful conclusion of 10 sessions, with the participation of more than 100 universities nationwide. The educational concept of the school has been well received by its peers home and abroad. School of Physics has also held China Young Physicists’ Tournament (CYPT) for 7 consecutive years.
The 33rd IYPT will be held in Romania in 2020 and Nankai University’s School of Physics will continuously be in charge of the selection of Chinese delegation and training work.
