The social practice team composed by Business School's students went to Tongren (Guizhou) to do social work, investigating the actual status and the influence of the Internet on local senior high students’ self-education.
The members investigated Tongren's Jiangkou Province Middle School, and No.1 Middle School, and collected information on the field, using questionnaires, meetings, interviews, and so on. The total amount of questionnaires was over 300, and the team interviewed more than 40 students.
The members found out that the school started using “Xiaoxiaotong” Internet system in every classroom, and set up Internet study areas in the library, so that the students are able to search for study materials online. They also better understood senior high students’ different points of view on Internet self-education, and Internet’s influence upon the young students in the undeveloped areas.
The members walked into the undeveloped areas and learned the importance of educational facilities and soft power for the students. The use of the Internet will improve young people’s self-education level.
During 2016 summer holiday, Business School organized social works in different regions of China for 30 teams. Through social practice, the students can cultivate Nankai University's motto “dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability”, combining different types of classes and experiences. The students are able to use their professional knowledge, cultivate their comprehensive skills, discover and learn national and social conditions, and become Nankai people with “dedication to public interests and all-round capabilities”.
