Nankai University’s 1st “Russian Drama Festival” was held at the College of Foreign Languages. Vice President Zhu Guanglei, the people in charge of the College, and all the teachers of the Department of Russian came to the festival to watch the performances.
“Uncle Vanya”, “Three Sisters”, “The Cherry Orchard” and other classical Russian dramas vividly presented to the audience Chekov’s plays and the glamor of Russian literature. 2016 Master’s students performed the popular Russian comedy “How I became a Russian” (“Как я стал русским”), showing the modern Russia and its different cultural perspectives. The class of 2014 creatively performed one of Oleg Bogayev’s plays from an innovative perspective, revealing the problems in modern Russian society and humanity’s true colors
This year, the drama festival aims at enriching students’ practical classes, combining theory with practice. The festival helped the students to feel the charm of the classic plays, understand the deep meaning of contemporary dramas and discover the Russian culture in a creative way, thus engaging the students in a powerful learning experience.
