Prof. Mauro Moretti, Vice Rector of the Università per Stranieri di Siena (UNISTRASI), visited Nankai University’s College of Foreign Languages on March 23rd. The Dean of the College Prof. Yan Guodong and the Vice Dean Prof. Du Weihua welcomed the delegation. The two parts exchanged points of view on the joint cultivation of Chinese and Italian talented students.
During the meeting, Dean Yan told Vice Rector Moretti that the College of Foreign Languages has just set up a new major: Italian language. He hoped that, in a close future, the two universities would establish a closer relationship and co-organize joint projects.
Vice Rector Moretti said that UNISTRASI would spare no effort to support the construction and the development of Nankai University’s Italian major. UNISTRASI is currently promoting its internationalization process and working with other Italian universities to provide exchange opportunities to non-European students. Therefore, the students of Nankai University are welcome to UNISTRASI. In the future, the two universities could jointly develop undergraduate or master’s programs.
After the meeting, Vice Rector Moretti delivered a lecture titled Main Issues in Italian Contemporary History, introducing the history of Italy from 1861 until now to professors and students. Andrea Scibetta, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute at the University of Florence and Ph.D. student at UNISTRASI, introduced relevant information for the Chinese students who want to study at UNISTRASI.
The cooperation between Nankai University and UNISTRASI started this year: in January the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Student Exchange Agreement. Each year, five students from Nankai University will have the chance to study at UNISTRASI.
