January 21st, the opening ceremony of Global Youth Leadership Academy (GYLA) 2019 of UN was held at International Training Center of International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in Turin, Italy. The academy has attracted 100 outstanding students from six key universities of China such as Zhejiang University, Nanjing University and Nankai University. After strict selection, Nankai University recommended 15 students to go for the event.
GYLA 2019 is a two-week world-class educational and experiential learning program that provides international students with UN system, cultivates their entrepreneurship and innovative spirit and leadership skills, challenges their global and builds a commitment to future leadership. UN officials and celebrated entrepreneurs will be invited to give lectures on expertise on sustainable development, cross-cultural interaction and entrepreneurship.
Founded 1919, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency that sets international labour standards and promotes social protection and work opportunities for all. As a tripartite agency, the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers to safeguard the human dignity at workplace through dialogue, social security, innovative employment and respect on international labour standards.
During the trip, the delegation of Nankai University still pays close attention to domestic affairs, and learnt the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech during his visit to Nankai University. All the members have declared that they will live up to President Xi’s earnest wishes and requests, and win glory for their motherland.
