On April 14th, the 2019 HSBC Mainland China Business Case Competition (North China Section) final was held at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. Nankai Team won the third place, with Zha Quanhao from the School of Foreign Languages as the coach and Liu Yuanzhe, a sophomore, Guowei, a junior, both from Economics & Business & Law Comprehensive Education Program of the School of Economics, and Mao Qi and Hu Keyue, both juniors from the Business School majoring in Financial Management, as team members.
Boasting solid knowledge reserve of corporate finance, corporate governance and macroeconomics, the Nankai Team members conducted original and in-depth case studies within two hours of the competition. As a result, they were spoken highly of by judges for their outstanding performance and fluent oral English. This is the third consecutive year that Nankai University has been invited to participate in the competition, and the second for ranking top three.
Before the competition, the Students Society of Science and Technology of the School of Economics organized recruitment and selection for the Winter Training Camp and provided great support for the training of team members. In addition, under the support of the instructors, the coach and the team members of the previous year, the participants of this year receive all-round guidance and valuable experience in case analysis framework, professional knowledge and major target markets, etc. The achievements made in this competition by the Nankai Team also reflected the university’s advantages in interdisciplinary, versatile and innovative talent cultivation and the spirit of its students.
As the top business case analysis competition for undergraduates in the Asia Pacific region, the HSBC Mainland China Business Case Competition has a history of more than 10 years. This year, Tsinghua University and Peking University rank first and second respectively, with a number of famous universities in China invited to join the competition, including Zhejiang University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
