Nankai Students Won the First Prize of “FLTRP Cup” English Debate Competition

The 19th “FLTRP Cup” National University Student English Debate Competition was held from May 18th to 24th at Beijing Foreign Studies University. The competition follows the most popular model of debate in the world: the “British Parliamentary Debate”. 

Su Yujing, College of Foreign Languages’ undergraduate (2014), and Zhang Junyi, College of History’s undergraduate (2013), participated in the competition as representatives of Nankai University. They won the first prize of Northern China Division and entered the national finals. During the finals, the representative team of Nankai University won the first prize in the round-robin group, entering the national semi-finals after the knockout round, and winning the national 8th place.

Founded in 1997, FLTRP Cup English Debate Competition is held once a year. It is the English debate competition with the highest level and the largest influence in China. It is approved by national English teachers and university students, and has a high reputation among the Chinese universities.
