The Index of Citations Ranks 4th among Chinese Mainland Universities2018.09.27
In the evening of September 26th, the “Times Higher Education” (Britain) released the World University Rankings 2019 in Singapore. It is the first time that Nankai University is involved in the rankings. Nankai University ranks 10th among Chinese Mainland Universities and 351-400th among world higher education institutions.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 adopts an evaluation criterion, which includes 5 areas and 13 separate performance indicators. The five areas are teaching (learning environment)-25%, research (output, revenue and reputation)-30%, citation (research influence)-30%, international outlook (teaching staff, student and study)-7.5%, and industrial revenue (knowledge transfer)-7.5%. Nankai University has an outstanding performance in the area of citation, which ranks 4th among Chinese mainland universities and shows its strong academic influence. With the acceleration of its “Double First-class” construction and its first Centennial Anniversary, Nankai University is forging ahead with all strengths and seeking for greater development.
Since 2004, the annual rankings of Times Higher Education have evaluated more than 1,250 higher education institutions worldwide for 15 years, involving 86 countries and regions. With 72 universities being shortlisted, universities of China remain robust this year.
Times Higher Education (THE) is a British journal in higher education. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, along with Academic Ranking of World Universities, QS World University Rankings, and USNEWS World University Rankings, are considered as the most influential world university rankings.
