Guests from the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford visited Nankai University 2019.05.10

On May 7, Darren Nash, Associate Head of Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, Dong Tao, Head of T-Cell Lab, Immunology Centre of University of Oxford, Medical Research Council and Professor of Immunology, and Roman Fischer, Head of Discovery Proteomics Facility in the Target Discovery Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine, visited Nankai University. President Cao Xuetao and Vice Chancellor Wang Lei met with the guests on Balitai campus.

At the advance meeting for the project, the heads of College of Life Sciences, School of Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology, Institute of Statistics, Development Office, Office of Human Resources, Science and Technology Department, Office for International Academic Exchanges, and researchers introduce the recent progress of preparatory work for in-depth cooperation and gave specific advice. Darren Nash, Dong Tao and Roman Fischer introduced the preparatory work and specific suggestions for implementation from Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford to promote the in-depth cooperation with Nankai University.

The two sides discussed lots of issues in consensus concerning the ways of faculty exchange and cooperation, joint construction of research institutions and in-depth cooperation on proteome research. Next, the two universities will jointly promote cooperation, in accordance with the memorandum of cooperation.

Ranking top 3 in a number of World Best Medical Schools list, the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) of University of Oxford is one of the best-known medical schools across Europe. NDM maintains research platforms across a number of disciplines including: cellular and molecular physiology, structural biology, structural genomics, human genomics, cancer research, experimental medicine, vaccine development, clinical biomanufacturing, and tropical medicine and global health. Over the past 2 decades, NDM has also undertaken research, which has led to lasting clinical and medical impacts, such as the development of new vaccines, drugs and clinical technology for the diagnosis, treatment, and control of disease and medical disorders.
